The story below is dedicated to this blog from my good friend Mr. Saurabh Garg (Mogu). Thanks Mogu for this beautiful narration:
"When we started using internet and emails, soon this thing came up as to whether emails can be hacked or not. There were all sorts of opinions. There were all sorts of people though almost everybody began with an open mind to explore the possibility of hacking, eventually some gave up and said no hacking of emails is not possible. They had a good argument that email providers like Yahoo and Hotmail are much smart and intelligent to close out any possible means of hacking. These people hadn't done any research or anything like that and their disbelief was more out of frustration of their own failure and inability to find anything.
Then there were those who believed that there is some dark secret method through which email accounts could be hacked. They had all sorts of stories, about a master yahoo password or some cookie settings or this or that. There were hundreds of millions of pages on web related to all this. These people, though themselves had failed just like non-believers, but they refused to conclude that if they have failed, that means there is no hacking.
There were a people of the third kind who claimed that they knew how to hack email accounts. They created a kind of aura around them that the believers really ended up believing that these people really know and that they can learn through them. These people had a number of ifs and buts and other special favors and requirements before they would transfer this secret knowledge to the believers. These mystics were criticized a lot by non-believers. The non-believers had this solid argument, that if these mystics really know how to hack, why don't they demonstrate it. These mystics, were quiet smart though and they would give all sorts of amazing arguments to confuse the believers all the more and keep them behind them.
Then I met one person. He never indulged in all these arguments. You try challenging him and he would just go his own way. He neither denied nor confirmed. But he was different. Different from non-believers as well as believers and also the mystics. I asked him, can emails be hacked and he replied, I am trying to find it out. He was a intelligent fellow but had completely screwed himself up. I asked him, will he teach me and he asked me, you have the guts to get screwed ?
To this day, no-one other than those people at Yahoo and Hotmail know whether the email accounts can be hacked or not and they wont let the secret out. The fight between believers and non-believers is on with the number of mystics increasing like anything.
And as for that 1 person, I one day heard that suddenly he did something and immediately he was recruited by Gmail and made one of their own!"
